2015 Subaru Legacy vs 2015 Subaru Outback: Design
Both the Subaru Legacy and the Subaru Outback are attractive vehicles that have been redesigned for the 2015 model year. Each one has a powerful front end, with an assertive grille and headlights. The design is aerodynamic and sleek while still being powerful. The similarities are many, but the differences are also important: the Legacy is a sedan, while the Outback is a wagon, and it comes with integrated roof rails that the Legacy lacks. The Outback is also slightly larger than the Legacy; the Legacy is 188.8" long, 72.4" wide, and 59.0" high, while the Outback is 189.6" long, 72.4" wide, and 66.1" high (with roof rails).
2015 Subaru Legacy vs 2015 Subaru Outback: Performance

The 2015 Legacy and the 2015 Outback each give you the choice between two engines. The 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, and 2.5i Limited trim levels of each come with a 2.5-liter DOHC aluminum-alloy 16-valve horizontally opposed 4-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine with dual active valve control system, paired with Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with 6-speed manual mode and paddle shifters. This engine is efficient, but also powerful, providing 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. This engine gives the Outback 33 miles per gallon on the highway, while the Legacy gets 36 highway miles per gallon. If you want a more powerful engine, the 3.6R Limited trim level comes with a 3.6-liter DOHC aluminum-alloy 24-valve horizontally opposed 6-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine with dual active valve control system that's good for 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque! Both vehicles have features like symmetrical all-wheel drive, vehicle dynamics control, traction control system, active torque vectoring, and incline start assist; these help keep you in control, even if the weather or roads are bad. However, the Outback adds a few extra features: 8.7" of ground clearance and X-Mode, a traction assist system with hill descent control. These extra features make the Outback perfectly suited to all kinds of off-road exploration.
2015 Subaru Legacy vs 2015 Subaru Outback: Safety and Features

Your safety and comfort are both incredibly important, and the 2015 Legacy and 2015 Outback both go to great lengths to ensure both. Each one is equipped with active safety features, including brake assist, tire pressure monitoring system, daytime running lights, and a rear-vision camera. Blind spot detection/rear cross-traffic alert is available on the 2.5i Premium and standard on the 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited. Available on the 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, and 3.6R Limited is EyeSight, a driver assist technology that combines adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure and sway warning functions. Both the Legacy and the Outback also have numerous safety features, including dual-stage deployment airbags, Subaru advanced frontal airbag system, side curtain airbags, front seat side pelvis/torso airbags, driver and front passenger seat cushion airbags, height- and tilt-adjustable front seat head restraints, height-adjustable 3-point front seatbelts, rear child-safety door locks, LATCH, brake override system, collapsible steering column, and ring-shaped reinforcement frame. Because of its greater height, the Outback also includes a rollover sensor. Both the Legacy and the Outback have spacious interiors that are outfitted with high quality amenities like dual-zone automatic climate control (standard on the 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, and 3.6R Limited) and your choice of infotainment system.
